Gravatar – adding your image – what is the G?

There is a world wide web facility which enables you to create an image of yourself or an icon to represent your establishment, it is a gravatar. If you follow the gravatar link then you may register your email address and associate with it an image. Many people now use this facility e.g. Worpress (the technology underlying this web site), Facebook, Twitter and many many others. So afterwards any websites that you register with may now automatically display your own image/avatar as it will recognise your email address and find your image/icon automatically – you need do no more! It’s just a very simple way for people to recognise you and associate your image. It is entirely free and optional.

Your establishment must be registered before personal users can register. To register your establishment: if you are a Local Authority, NHS or Voluntary Organisation then select this option. If you are a School or Youth Club then select the appropriate option. Personal users should select the most appropriate option i.e. co-ordinator, teacher or club leader.

Operation Smoke Storm – Step 1 – what next?

Following your request for an authorisation code you should receive an email (within hours) to your nominated email address that looks like this:

Thank you for your order – Here is your Authorisation Code: xxxxxxxxxxx.

This Authorisation Code will be needed in order to register an establishment and any personal/staff members at that establishment. Each registered user is entitled to 18 credits per week (refreshed every Sunday), thus allowing them to download Operation Smoke Storm a total of 6 times per week.

If you are a Local Authority, NHS or Voluntary Organisation then please first register your establishment before you distribute this Authorisation Code to your subordinate establishments i.e. Schools, Youth Clubs and Co-ordinators. The number of registrations is subject to the limit that you have ordered.

All establishments i.e. Local Authority, NHS, Voluntary Organisation, School or Club must be registered before any of it’s staff may. Each member of staff from an establishment who wishes to use Operation Smoke Storm needs to complete the registration process, registering as personal users i.e. Co-ordinator, Teacher or Youth Club leader.

During registration, School or Youth Club staff members will be able to select their establishment from the drop down list of registered establishments. If the establishment is missing from the list then this indicates that the establishment has not yet registered and so needs to do so. So if you are the first staff member registering for your establishment then please register your establishment first, then repeat the process to register yourself.

The ‘Resources’ menu provides a list of all the downloadable/viewable resources, along with the Download Value for each.
If a registerd user’s credit budget (18 credits per week) is exceeded then the user is prompted to contact the owner of their account to acquire more.
All credit budgets are automatically ‘refreshed’ every Sunday. This mechanism ensures that the system is not overloaded by continuous downloads and assists in ensuring that the system performs well for all users.

Budget

When a user registers then they are allocated a budget of 18 credits. This credit budget is automatically refreshed each week (every Sunday). The current budget is shown on the right hand side of the page when users login and indicates the number of available credits remaining at that point. The automatic refresh facility will expire 12 months after registration unless the contract has been renewed. If you find that you are often exceeding your credit budget then we suggest you contact your establishment’s representative to enquire about increasing your weekly budget. This credit budget is automatically refreshed each week (every Sunday).
